Our results in practice

What good looks like.

Every case study below represents a real engagement — a contractor who came to us with a challenge, and left with a stronger submission, a better pipeline, or both. The sectors, contract values, and outcomes are real. We are happy to discuss any of them in more detail.

As a business development professional, these are the numbers that define our track record. Over £100m in contracts secured for clients, and a pipeline that has exceeded £500m — built through a combination of strategic bid management, framework positioning, and long-term relationship development across the refurbishment and fitout sector.

Contract value

First attempt

Result

Regional main contractor

Framework place secured on first application.

The challenge

A regional main contractor with strong delivery credentials had repeatedly failed to secure a place on a major education framework. Their submissions were technically sound but failed to differentiate them from larger competitors.

Our approach

We developed a revised bid strategy focused on local supply chain, programme certainty, and safeguarding track record — the three areas the client weighted most heavily. We rewrote the quality responses from scratch and introduced a structured evidence library for future submissions.

The outcome

Framework place secured on first application following our involvement. The contractor has since been awarded three call-off contracts totalling over £4.2m.

Won against 3 larger competitors

Result

Specialist fitout subcontractor

£2.8m hotel refurbishment contract won against three larger competitors.

The challenge

A specialist fitout subcontractor was invited to tender for a phased bedroom refurbishment programme at a four-star hotel group. They were the smallest business on the shortlist and lacked a formal bid process.

Our approach

We structured the submission around the client's core concerns: brand standard compliance, revenue impact during works, and programme reliability. We produced a detailed phasing methodology and supported the pricing review to ensure commercial competitiveness without margin erosion.

The outcome

Contract awarded at £2.8m. The client cited the quality of the submission and the clarity of the phasing plan as the primary reasons for selection.

£6.8m pipeline

Contract value

4 frameworks secured

Result

Main contractor — NHS works

Pipeline grown from £1.2m to £6.8m in 18 months.

The challenge

A main contractor with strong NHS delivery experience had no structured business development function. Work was won reactively through existing relationships, and the pipeline was thin and unpredictable.

Our approach

We implemented a 12-month retained business development programme covering framework applications, client relationship mapping, and a structured approach to pre-qualification. We identified six target frameworks and supported applications to all of them.

The outcome

Four framework places secured within 12 months. Identified pipeline grew from £1.2m to £6.8m over 18 months. The contractor now has a repeatable BD process they manage in-house.

Preferred supplier

Contract value

First project in 6 months

Result

Fitout contractor — PBSA sector

Preferred supplier status achieved with a major PBSA developer.

The challenge

A fitout contractor with relevant PBSA experience was struggling to break into the preferred supplier lists of the larger developers. Their capability was not in question — their ability to present it compellingly was.

Our approach

We audited their existing credentials and case study library, identified the gaps, and produced a suite of sector-specific collateral aligned to PBSA procurement priorities. We then supported two formal PQQ submissions and one full tender.

The outcome

Preferred supplier status achieved with one of the UK's largest PBSA developers. First project instructed within six months of appointment.
